Classic example of a grid based web design. Although it is frequently adopted, I think it is the best layout technique for presenting a large amount of text and images/content.

It’s not very common when you find a nicely designed site using mainly a serif type face. This site proves to be a very successful response. I also think where there’s things like typography, the nicest look is sticking to black and white, and keeping it simple. Less is more!

Wide screen layouts such as this one are always very attention grabbing. Especially since now a days a lot of people use wide screened monitors, having the background/image spread right across makes the viewer feel as if they are part of that image/environment.

I love the vintage feel of this website. The colour and the font used for navigation really makes it feel like a step back into the 20’s. The arch is also a very clever design point. It feels like a reminiscence of the art deco/nouveau era. Grungy websites always look so much better.

This web design is interesting. I can’t decide whether I like it or not. It’s nice how there are a lot of nice graphics, minimal spaces, and nice use of serif font. But I can’t help but feel a little uncomfortable with the placement of the content. It feels almost a little too random. It is a little messy and almost confusing. I couldn’t tell that it was a portfolio site until I actually read the text.

I really like how in recent years, people are starting to come up with creatives ways of making a long scrolling website attractive. This site is a good example. Although it is a very long page, by having each category of content acting as a boxed container separated by big dark spaces, it proves very effective. I also love the type face used and the earthy colour tones.

This is a nice simple portfolio website. The simplicity causes the artworks to be more striking and impressionable. The navigation on the side is simple and clear. A clean cut san-serif font also suits this type of style. Clear and effective.

Major Project - Thoughts

Landscape artist —> spacious, vast, nature

Colour scheme —> simple, not too bright

No need for animation, keep it simple.
